A bit about me

With a grown-up family, I now have more time to spend on two of my greatest indulgences – spending time in my favourite place in Spain (Andalucia) and my favourite place in the UK (Exmoor in Devon). My dog Lexi is a lot more grateful for our time in Devon than are the long suffering Spanish locals who endure my linguistic skills. I am a keen and active supporter of numerous animal and environmental charities

Experience

I have worked within the pensions industry for more than four decades, covering both workplace and retail products, defined benefit and defined contribution schemes. Unsurprisingly, given that long timeframe, I have held many different roles in various organisations, including regulatory compliance lead, independent advisory and product manufacturer roles. Past roles include Head of Risk and Governance positions at both Legal & General and Capita, and Trustee Director for Legal & General’s two Master Trusts, which I also designed. I have been a Strategist for two different Master Trusts. I created (and sat on) the first Independent Governance Committee, two years before the FCA mandated them, and worked closely with the FCA before 2015 to help evolve the rules that are still in in place for IGCs today.

I have been named as one of the Top 50 people in Pensions on two occasions and have been a past winner of the Engaged Investor’s Trustee of the Year award. I am an active member of the Society of Pensions Professionals Defined Contribution Committee, supporting numerous consultation responses, and once represented them at a Work and Pensions Committee meeting, examining the relative success of Freedom and Choice. I am a past Chair of the PLSA’s Master Trust committee.

I lead (and support) on a variety of client projects, in particular covering risk, governance and Board/ Committee effectiveness. I also lead (and support) provider evaluations, impact assessments of regulatory change programmes and dispute resolution.
